My wife and I stayed here with our two young kids and scheduled our stay over the “Family Fun Weekend”. The campground hosted a ton of activities for the whole family to participate in. Bingo, T-Shirt Coloring, Treasure Hunt, Candy Scramble, outdoor movies each evening, and a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning. The staff went out of their way to ensure everyone had a good time. The swimming pool was large, clean, and well maintained and had two lifeguards and a small kids pool as well. There are two playgrounds and a miniature golf course that are both very clean and well maintained. The bathhouses were clean, and there were a lot of them. Most of the camp sites that we saw were pull through. My only complaint was that in our section the sites were very close together, and they were laid out like a “buddy” campsite, where every other campsite pulled through from opposite sides, resulting in an awning-to-awning set up. Luckily, the people in the site next to us were nice, polite, and non-bothersome. Power, water, sewer, cable, and wireless all worked well, and the site was relatively level. There were a lot of seasonal campers that were located mostly in the section behind the office. I would avoid the back half, but it looks like they’re doing a lot of work to improve it. The roads and campsites are dirt, and although it didn’t rain while we were there, I could see how it could get pretty messy if it did. We will likely return; while it's not a 10, we did enjoy ourselves, the staff, and the facilities.
Sites, bathrooms, and facilities are all very clean. Sites are gravel and level-- Some much smaller than others--Ours was tight with a 30' trailer. The staff was very helpful. The campground is convenient to Dutch Wonderland. Playgrounds were not much to brag about. Pool was odd, but is clearly divided into shallow and deep sections. We would come again. FYI, you can reserve specific spaces up to a year in advance.
This was our first time camping at Cherry Hill. We liked the fact that the metro was so easily accessible by both personal vehicle (5 minutes away) and the metro bus (on-site). It’s about a 30 minute metro ride to the Washington, DC Mall area. The camp sites are maintained well, level, and easy to access. We had no problem maneuvering our 30’ trailer throughout the camp ground and backing into our site. The pools are very nice, and our three year old really enjoyed the mushroom fountain. The cafe and arcade areas are neat and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and the storefront was very well stocked with food, accessories, toys, and gift items. Our only complaint (which isn’t that big of deal) was that the mulch used for playgrounds was too rough and large, which made it tough for our three year old to maneuver. We will definitely return and are already considering Cherry Hill for our fall trip later this year.
Friendly staff. Small, but nice, pool. Although, it was too close to the dump station. Playground was a little outdated. Site was nice, large, and level. Cable service was not so good, but our antenna pulled in all the networks with the exception of NBC. Close proximity to Fredericksburg. On-site store was very well stocked.
This was a very nice campground with friendly staff and clean and orderly facilities, especially considering we were there over the Independence holiday. We and our two year old enjoyed the pool and playground. It is convenient to Washington, DC. The sites were not very level, but that's nothing a few blocks can't fix. The only other down side was the cost, which seemed a bit high.
My be the best VA State Park! Awesome staff, camp sites, and amenities. The pool is awesome. The waterfront makes for a very nice picnic. Very biking and hiking friendly. Will definitely go back!
No water right now. Wonderful getaway campground. Love going there in a tent. Can accomodate an RV or travel trailer. Has a dump station. No electric or water at the site.
